Yet another new eSIM focused virtual mobile provider has launched this week called SecondSim, which appears to have been designed around the needs of UK freelancers, sole traders and SMEs who need a “second phone line to help businesses separate their personal number from their work line“.
The SecondSim service, which operates across Vodafone’s network via connectivity partner eSIMgo and already says they’ve signed up over 1,500 businesses, is priced from just £5.99 +vat per month (this includes unlimited calls and texts with no contracts).
The provider is also said to run on a customer experience platform which has been created by the founders under the parent company of Jolli Group. The Jolli platform creates fully branded mobile network experiences for any brand, club, personality or organisation with an engaged community.

Jenna Banks, Co-Founder of SecondSim, said:
“When we were developing this brand, we spoke to tradespeople, freelancers and small business owners. Every day they’re having to make difficult choices about how and when they shut off in the evenings and at weekends. Often their personal number is their business number, plastered across websites and social channels which can result in people calling at any time of the day or night.
SecondSim has been designed to solve that problem, giving people a cheap and easy way to add a business line which does all the usual stuff such as making and receiving calls and What’sApp Business, without the need for an extra phone and in a way which creates professional and healthy separation.”

I can understand the use case, but can’t see why you wouldn’t go to one of the existing providers. They compare themselves with VoIP and PAYG, but not other SIM providers. Some of those are a bit cheaper.
This is a weird one…. their FAQ’s don’t even answer their questions.
examples such as
“Can I bring my number?
Instantly. Your eSIM QR code is sent to your email immediately after payment. You can activate it within minutes.”
So, can i bring a number? it doesn’t answer that
“Does this include calls or data?
Yes! This plan includes Unlimited UK Calls and SMS, so you can make and receive calls from clients on your new business number.”
Nothing about data – seems like there is zero data included for £6 a month – might as well get a VOXI Sim for £10 and have a number, calls, text and data (no roaming), or Smarty £6 including 5GB data and roaming.
IMO this seems to fit a gap that isn’t really a gap in the market.
yes you can
