The shortlist for the fifth annual UK Fibre Awards event, which will take place next month (4th June 2026) at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel, has been released. The event sees various broadband ISPs and full fibre network builders across several categories pick up awards for their achievements.
The event, which is similar to many existing industry award ceremonies (e.g. the ISPAs and Connected Britain), is currently being backed by telecoms / ICT centric media and event organisation firm BPL Business Media. Last year’s (2025) event saw Gigaclear picking up the ‘Best Rural Fibre Provider’ award and MS3 winning for ‘Best Overall Fibre Provider’ (they scooped several wins), among various other winners.
The winners for each category are typically chosen by a judging panel of eight industry and IT experts (here), including various senior managers, analysts and so forth. But there’s not much to reflect the consumer perspective in this group, and no technical testing is performed.

Says something that netomnia are up for Marketing and the M&A awards…
They forgot about B4RN the best Rural Provider
Only(!) £345 +vat per ticket. Travel and hotel etc extra, obviously.
I nice jolly for directors and marketing to have at customers’ expense. I wonder how many front-line workers or engineers get invited for their contribution for the success of any business? I’m guessing very few, though I’d love to be wrong.
The video of last year’s event looks like a popular day out.
Question for those in the know, do shortlisted companies have to attend / buy tickets in order to stay on the shortlist? Is it a mandatory requirement of putting forward your nomination to buy a table, for example?
As a front line worker of an ISP on this list, I was invited to attend this event free of charge by my employer. I am choosing not to due to dates conflicting with personal plans.
I agree that the ticket prices are high but if you think that even £600 (accounting for acommodation and travel) per attendee is driving the cost of broadband up, you would be so wrong, its a drop in the ocean for an annual event that boosts company-wide moral. Compare that to the costs of routers, line rental, rackspace, support agents, software and £600/attendee looks almost free.
You can still be nominated without having a table but it would be a bit awkward when nobody gets up to take their trophy!
Thanks FibreDave.
Great to know that at least some front line workers are asked, even if they decline. I wasn’t really intending to suggest such event costs meaningfully impact fees in relation to network infrastructure, salary etc etc costs, despite my wording.
I guess the cynic in me was more slightly venting that as a design engineer on several multi-award winning Hi-Fi products (yes completely different industry), none of my overlords ever considered inviting any of the software or electronics engineers to similar Hi-Fi award events. Yes, we had no right to be invited as we ourselves didn’t own the company, but teams are more than managers and directors. Clearly I haven’t let this go after all these years!
I asked about buying tables as it has been alleged for some other award ceremonies that such practices existed, though I have no idea if that was pure gossip – hence the ask for clarification.
honestly it feels like that meme of obama bestowing a medal to obama at times with these
its also criminal that cityfibre aren’t in the shortlist
grain i’d say are doing really well, their point to point deployment strategy is really good, they’ll be expanding into my area soon
ms3 might benefit from having more than a single route via virgin media business as they are currently down for an entire town and have been since 15:45
Grain to win it all
